Sometimes it is hard to tell if you have impaired hearing because you may have normal hearing for certain levels and pitches, while experiencing difficulties at other levels and pitches. Very often hearing impaired people will say, "I can hear people but can't understand them." They often feel that people mumble. And while many people do mumble, it is likely that the perception of mumbling increases with hearing impairment. They may also think that my hearing is normal for my age, and are not concerned about their hearing loss. However, numerous studies show that left untreated, hearing loss may limit productivity and lead to social isolation, depression, and cognitive decline.
